Salaamun Alaykum
Khushali Mubarak to you and your families on the birth anniversary of our 3rd Imam Husayn (AS).
Alhamdulillah the country's vaccination program is going very well and the number of Covid cases are also going down. We are thankful to Allah (SWT) for this, and we pray for the safety and protection of all across the globe. Ameen.
This means that inshaAllah we can begin the process of slowly resuming our physical activities with caution. Our Al Tabeeb Taskforce met on Saturday 13 March and have provided the following recommendations, which the EC are adopting as a roadmap over the next 2 months. This will be monitored closely and we shall continue to keep you updated on any further development and changes:
1) We are hoping to resume physical programs during the Holy Month of Ramadhan, beginning with Jamaat Salaat only. Further details will be communicated once the planning and risk assessment processes have been finalised in conjunction with the Al Tabeeb Taskforce. Online programs will continue.
2) Cycling can resume from 29 March, initially in pairs and then later in groups of 6 as per Government and Cycling UK guidance. We continue to recommend refraining from providing storage and repair facilities, or sharing equipment. However we hope this can also resume at some point in the near future.
3) All outdoor and indoor contact sports for Ladies and Gents can resume after Eid ul Fitr (14 May), in accordance with guidance from the Government and the relevant sports bodies. Covid Marshalls should be present in all sports events.
4) Any other projects or initiatives including for our Sub-Committees will be assessed in conjunction with the Al Tabeeb Taskforce on a case by case basis.
The above timelines have been agreed on the basis of the UK's vaccination schedule. By mid May, a number of our vulnerable population will have received their second dose, and the majority of our adults will have received their first dose.
It is important to highlight that there is no guarantee of a completely safe Covid environment. We acknowledge that we will need to live with Covid and accept its risks for the foreseeable future. The EC and Al Tabeeb Taskforce will work hard to mitigate risk for our members based on the status at the relevant points.
The next update will inshaAllah be on 20 May.
We request you to recite a Sura Fatiha for those who have passed away.
Al Fatiha
