It was with immense sadness that we have received the news that Grand Marja’, his eminence Ayatollah al-‘Udhma Sayyid Muhammad Sa’eed Al-Hakeem passed away today in Najaf al-Ashraf, Iraq, at the age of 87 years.

Marhum was one of the four grand Maraje’ in Najaf and one of the most senior clerics in Iraq after Ayatullah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (Hafidhahullah). He was a member of the well known and highly respected Hakim Family, the oldest grandson (grand nephew) of Marhum Ayatullah Sayyid Muhsin al-Hakim.

His demise is a huge loss to the Shi'i community worldwide and we convey our sincere condolences to the Imam of the time, Imam Mahdi (ajtfs), to the family and to loved ones of his Eminence. May Allah (swt) elevate his station in the proximity of His chosen ones, Ameen.
