The rationale for the crescent for the month of Shawwal 1441AH has been sent to His Eminence Ayatullah Sistani (May Allah protect him). Guidance received will inshallah be published on Saturday 23 May 2020 after Maghrib.

The calculations for the crescent visibility on Saturday 23 May 2020 for London corresponding to 29 Ramadhan 1441AH are as follows:

Sunset 8:00pm
Moonset 8:54pm
Crescent age 26 hours 21 minutes
Crescent altitude 6.39 degrees
Crescent elongation 12.38 degrees

The crescent is visible with optical aid.

Based on Ayatullah Seestani’s rulings of New Crescent Sightings and different Horizons, expect 1st Shawwal 1441AH (Eid) to fall on Monday 25 May 2020 in most of Europe, especially northern Europe.
