The Nikah of MohamedRiza s/o Amirali & Zainab Sadaq TO Zainab d/o Asgherali Alarakhia & Salma Suleiman will now be recited at an agreed Mahar by both. Shaykh Mohammed Rashid will be reciting the Nikah on behalf of the bride and the groom will be reciting the nikah on his own behalf. I will request everyone to please maintain silence during this part of the proceedings. Many congratulations to Mohamed Riza and Zainab.
On this auspicious occasion both the parties have kindly donated towards our Mehfil-e-Abbas Project fund and various other Jamaat funds, which is accepted with grateful thanks on behalf of the Jamaat. May Allah (SWT) with his grace and infinite mercy, bless this marriage and make it a prosperous, happy and an everlasting union and, may the couple be blessed with children who follow in the footsteps of Aimma-e-Tahereen, (Ameen).

Upcoming Programs
The Jamaat’s next scheduled program will take place tomorrow Saturday 15th June being the Wiladat day of our 4th Holy Imam, Imam Ali Zainul Abideen (as). The program will commence at 7pm with the Walima Nyaz for the wedding of Muntazir Gulamhussein to Fatima Zahra Tharoo. The Mehfil will commence with Hadith-e-Kisa at 8pm, followed by Lecture, Qasida, Nikah ceremony, and ending with Maghribain Salaat. The lecture will be delivered by Syed Muhammad Naqvi.
The Jamaat will be organising iftar nyaz on the 15th of Sha’baan. Mu’mineen are requested to donate generously into this nyaz fund at the treasurer’s desk.
Birmingham Jamaat Directory
The Birmingham Jamaat directory was launched earlier this year and is on sale only today and tomorrow for £1. You can purchase your copy at the Treasurers Desks.
Senior Citizens programme
The Senior Citizens group has been invited to attend Hussain Day in Leicester on Sunday 16 June 2013. The coach will be leaving our complex at 10.15am. All those people who have given their names please pay the transport cost to Hassanalibhai Kurji in gents and Mumtazbai Moti in ladies.
There are still a few places available so anyone else wishing to travel with the group please give your names to senior citizens groups office bearers to avoid disappointment.
KSIMC of Birmingham asks 'This community is important to me because...'
The Building Committee is making a promotional video about why this Community is so important to us. They would like you all to contribute to this video by sharing your point of view on what makes this Community special. You can get involved by writing on the slips of paper provided by the volunteers or via Facebook, Twitter and Email. The details are on the screen.
'History of the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Community and the Challenges Facing our Community in the future'.
The Jamaat has organised for a two part lecture series on the 'History of the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Community and the Challenges Facing our Community in the future'. The talks will be delivered by Shan E Abbas Hassam, the Secretary General of The World Federation , as part of the main programme on Thursday 27th June and Thursday 4th July.
Volunteer in Profile Award
The Jamaat is launching a Volunteer in Profile Award in recognition of individual volunteers for outstanding commitment and service to the KSIMC of Birmingham and/or its Sub-Committees. This award is in recognition of their hard work and dedication. It is not incumbent that it be awarded to Members of the KSIMC of Birmingham Jamaat, as the award is also extended to non-Members and friends alike.
Applications must be nominated and seconded by a combined total of five separate Members of the KSIMC of Birmingham. The nominator and one of the seconders will be required to present their application for the award to a Panel. Please send the name of your nominee to the secretariat as soon as possible. The last date for submission is 15th Sha'baan.
Intensive course on Aqa'id
As part of the strategy for post-madrasah education, the Tabligh Committee of the Jamaat has arranged a 30 hour intensive course on Aqa'id - the Islamic Belief System, from Monday 1st July to Sunday 7th July. Classes will be held in the evenings on weekdays and all day at the weekend. The course instructor will be Dr Mohammad Shomali from Qum. The fee for the course will be at a subsidised cost of £50. The course is mainly aimed at Madrasah teachers and University students but others may apply. Only 30 places are available which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. - Consultancy IT Support Services
A new job opportunity has arisen to provide Consultancy IT support services to our Jamaat. For a detailed job description please contact Mohamedriyaz Sachedina or the Jamaat office. The closing date for applications is 15th June.
- Graphic Designer and Writer.
The Building Committee are looking to fill two roles in the team. The first is for a graphic designer and the second for a writer. Please email buildingcommittee@ksmnet.org for further information.
- Research Internship
The Centre for Academic Shia Studies is currently offering 8 full-time research internship opportunities for their research programme. Though there is flexibility in the number of days per week, interns should ideally be able to commit to a period of 3 - 6 months. The role will involve carrying out research on the topic of religious extremism and violence against Shia Muslims. The research will feed into various parliamentary avenues and work for the UN Rapporteur. The Deadline for applications is 21st June. for further information, please visit www.shiaresearch.com.
'Business Coaching' Seminar
The Economic Upliftment committee shall be organising an action packed 3 hour 'Business Coaching' seminar for ladies and gents in our Community who are business owners or are contemplating starting up a business. The Seminar is on Saturday, 22 June from 6pm to 9.30pm. Places are limited for this event and are available on a first come, first served basis. Ridge Walk and Run
Br Zulfer Bata is doing a 52 mile ridge walk and run on 22nd June for the Sense Charity which is for deaf & blind children also Macmillan cancer research. 50% of the funds collected will be donated to our Mehfil e Abbas project. Mu’mineen are requested to support the cause.
Burial Committee Directory
The Jamaat is preparing a directory of people who have passed away in Birmingham since the inception of the Jamaat. The directory will also be available online. Everyone is requested to check the names of their Marhumeens and date of death at either the Jamaat office, or the treasurer’s desks in the ladies or gents. The deadline for this checking process is Monday 17th June. If you have any queries, please contact the Jamaat office.
Annual Jamaat Funfair
As you are aware the Jamaat's annual funfair and bbq event is to take place on Sunday 30th June. Those who wish to buy a stall at the funfair are requested to give their names to either Hussein Hirji in the gents or Ismat Ramji in the ladies, the cost is £10 per table.
Jamaat Communication
The Jamaat has decided to reduce the number of paper communication sent out. Henceforth, the Jamaat will routinely send the following items in electronic form:
- Letters and officer notices to members
- Invoices
- AGM minutes/reports and accounts.
We realise that some members will prefer to continue to receive paper based communication. To facilitate this the jamaat will have copies of the above in the office and will be available for collection. Any members who cannot collect them, can phone the office for them to be posted out - however, we suggest this is kept to a minimum for cost reduction purposes.
The following items will remain in paper form and will be sent to members as normal:
- Al-Muntazar magazine.
- Jamaat programme timetable.
"Khoja Question time"
As part of the EC's goals and objectives we will be holding our first Khoja question time on Thursday 20th June during the main program. The questions will be restricted to topics relevant to the panel. The questions asked on the day will be prioritized according to the number of people asking similar questions relating to a particular issue/topic.
The panel will consist of the President of the Jamaat, the Chair lady of the ladies committee, the Head of the education board, the Secretary of the ladies committee and the Chairman of the senior citizens group. Qur'an Recitation and Memorization Competition
The Islamic College of ondon would like to invite you to the 1st Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition to attend as the audience to listen to the participants. this will take place on 22nd and 23rd of June. For more information on this event, please see the noticeboards.
Wedding Invitation
The Jamaat has received the following invitations to the nikah ceremony of:

Iftar Nyaz Fund
Full iftar nyaz for the whole month of Ramadan is planned in order to ensure that no last minute changes are made, it will only be possible to have a full iftar nyaz if funds have been collected at least 72 hours in advance. Mu'mineen are requested to either reserve the nights they would like to sponsor iftar nyaz or donate generously into the iftar nyaz fund at the treasurer’s desk.
Du'a recitation in Mahe Ramadan
Anyone who would like to recite du’as during the Holy month of Ramadan is requested to give their names to either Yasir Pirmohamed or Muslim Khoja.
Mosque Open Day
The Husaini Islamic Centre of Peterborough will be holding their annual Mosque Open Day at on Sunday 30th June. The open day will commence at 2pm and you are free to attend at your convenience anytime between 2pm and 6pm.
Al-Ghadeer Library
The Al-Ghadeer Library is open for 20 minutes after every Jamaat program. Mu'mineen are requested to make use of the library.

World Federation Announcements
Syria Crisis
As the crisis in Syria continues, It is estimated that by the end of this year over 3.5m Syrians will have been displaced from their homes.
The world federation has launched the syrian refugee appeal 2013 and are inshaallah aiming to raise $200,000 usd with the support of all momineen. Please donate generously into this cause to help the affected momineen in this crisis. You can donate at the treasurers desk both in the ladies and gents.
Al-Mahdi Institute
"Exploring extremism in society"
Al-Mahdi Institute is holding a public discussion on Tuesday 18th June at 7.30pm on "Exploring extremism in society". The panel will consist of experts and community leaders from a cross section of communities in the west midlands to explore the phenomenon of extremism in human thought. "Introducing Islam to Non-Muslims"
The Al Mahdi Institute is holding an seminar with Dr Chris Hewer titled, "Introducing Islam to Non-Muslims". Dr Hewer has a strong background in Christian theology, education, Islamic studies and inter-faith studies and has worked in the field of Muslims in Britain and Christian-Muslim relations since 1986.
