Everyday is Ashura! Every Land is Kerbala!

Imam Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (as) said: "The tears do not dry up save for the hearts being hard, and hearts do not harden but because of the abundance of sins."
Imam Ridha (A.S.) said:One who refrains from seeking his (worldly) desires on the day of Ashura, Allah shall grant him his desires of this world and the hereafter.

Background to my article Superstition PDF Print E-mail

Dear Editors

Background to my article Superstition.

Writing an article on Superstition was the most challenging and the most rewarding task I have undertaken. The impetus for this article came as a result of a well-wisher narrating to me his/her belief, which I did rule out as superstition, which makes him not visit sick people (I presume in hospitals) based on his previous experiences in that it resulted in these sick people dying. What I suggested to this well-wisher is to visit me when I am next admitted to the hospital. This statement was based on my personal belief that life and death is in the hands of Allah (SWT), it is Allah (SWT) who sends rizk (sustenance) before a child is born and it is when the rizk ends that a person departs from this world as surely we have witnessed young ones preceding the elderly and vice versa. In deed this world is a journey towards eternal life.   A disaster had struck when I was writing the article as temporary power failure had wiped out the whole second page (I was lucky as I had saved the first page) and in rewriting I was not able to write the same material that I had written in the first place. The article was challenging as I had decided to use the word I for the main characters thus avoiding mentioning any names. The other challenge was in conveying feelings experienced by the main character as I needed a role model.  I hope that I have not disappointed my faithful Al-Muntazar readers. With salaams and dua.Mohammed Baquir Hemraj
