English Nawha and Marshiya PDF Print E-mail


The Council of European Jamaats has published a booklet of English poetry about the tragedy of Karbala. These poems have been written by members of our community over the past few weeks; and commemorate the massacre of Imam Husayn (a.s.); his family and his companions over 1400 years ago. These booklets are available for free; and are being distributed in Jamaats across Europe.

This booklet has been compiled by the Youth Desk in order to promote the commemoration of this calamity; by all members of our community but especially by the youth. It is hoped that the poems in this booklet will be recited in our centres this Ashra-e-Zainabiyya; but also in future years.

With a print edition of 1000 copies; facilitated kindly by donations and sponsorships; copies are available to all for free; via our Jamaats across Europe.

We would like to thank all the contributors for their efforts - from the quality of the work the poets clearly took time and effort in writing their submissions; and unfortunately we could not publish all the poems we received. Thanks must also go to all those who have supported this project; they have contributed toward the successful completion of this project.
