The Event: "Challenges and Solutions in Today's Society"
Date: Saturday 23rd February 2008
The Report (preview)
On Saturday 23rd February the Abbasi Youth Committee organised an event with Haji Hussein Walji of Minnesota. Haji Hussein was reciting lectures in the English hall during the Ashre Zainabiya period and his topic was based around character building in today’s society. In order to build on his topic the following questions were posed:
1. What do you think makes a good parent-child relationship?
2. How do you think Muslims are stereotyped in today’s society? What should we do about it?
3. What do you think of the traditional matchmaking systems and how can they be better suited to today’s society?
4. What is the role of a community in today’s society?

The buildings committee of the KSIMC of Birmingham have approached the
AYC informing us that they would like the youth to give their views and comments on what they expect from a new building for our Jamaat.
|
The date scheduled for this consultation meeting is Friday 22nd February after the main programme.
This is our opportunity as youth and future users of the community centre to
have our input into what will be built and what our needs will be for the
future.
DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!
If the turnout is low it is a clear indication to the buildings committee
that the youth are not interested and this is not the impression we would
like to give.
Every opinion is important and must be heard. Let us take the reigns of the
future into our hands.
We look forward to seeing you all there and hearing your views.

Thank you to all those who gave their names for the coach for the Tube Collection that took place on Saturday 9th February 2008. This was a London wide tube and
street collection by CoEJ to raise funds for orphans in Iraq who have been
affected by the war.
Alhamdulillah, £14,520 was raised all in one day!
